At Alpha Dental Clinic, the provision of quality dentistry in a safe, comfortable, and hygienic environment is our top priority. We comply strictly with international hygiene and sterilization standards. To avoid cross-infection and to treat patients in a strictly non-contaminated environment we have been proactive in adopting very stringent infection control measures:

Barriers
It is compulsory for our dentists and nurses to wear personal barriers such as disposable gloves, masks, protective eye-wears and protective gowns during treatments, disinfections and while handling waste materials.  

Instrument and Equipment Sterilization
According to international standards, all instruments are autoclaved or sterilized in specialized disinfectant solution. Our dental equipments are also thoroughly sterilized by high-tech equipments at 130 degrees Celsius to kill all germs and bacteria completely. After sterilization, the instruments are immediately sealed into pouches using special machines.

Use of Disposables to Prevent Cross-contamination
Many of the dental instruments used during treatment are disposed off after use to prevent the transmission of disease. This includes, but is not limited to, cups, gloves, syringes, surgical tips and saliva ejector. All dental waste materials are collected and properly disposed of after use.

Our clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities so that we are able to diagnose and provide timely and quality treatments in the shortest possible time to our clients.
 
We have our own OPG and dental X-ray machine, from Sirona, a reputable German dental equipment company, so there is no need for you to make a trip to another hospital or clinic to have your X-ray taken. An OPG X-ray is essential to have an overall assessment of the entire mouth area, showing the teeth and gum on both upper and lower jaws. They are a good screening tool will help show any abnormal growths or cysts in the jaw bone.

We use the EMS AirFlow System for more thorough polishing of your teeth.

For tooth whitening, we use the effective and well-known Opalescence Home and In-Office System.

Alpha Dental Clinic is pleased to announce the incorporation of CEREC (Chair-side Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) 3D CAD/CAM technology from Germany. CEREC is an all-ceramic restoration that can be fabricated and permanently seated in one single dental appointment. This technology allows our office to provide our client with the very best restoration possible with the added convenience of fewer appointments. CEREC recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on the market, and recent advancements have cemented its place as the technology of the future in dentistry. Alpha Dental is proud to be one of the few in Shanghai to offer this advanced CAD/CAM technology.

Traditionally speaking, a crown or partial crown restoration has always required two appointments. During the first visit, the dentist prepares the broken or decayed tooth, takes an impression for the dental laboratory, and fabricates a temporary crown. Reputable labs usually require about 1-2 weeks to fabricate a quality restoration. In the meantime, clients wore a temporary crown. Unfortunately, temporaries by their very nature do not fit as well as the permanent restoration. Because of this fact, they are prone to debonding and can irritate the surrounding tissues. Until now, we did not have a better option for our clients.

For the same crown in our office today, we are able to prepare the tooth in a much more conservative manner, saving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. We take a digital impression of the prepared tooth, eliminating the need for a tray full of impression material. The restoration is designed three-dimensionally using the CAD/CAM system and milled right here in the office. It is then chemically bonded to the remaining healthy tooth for a beautifully natural looking and long-lasting result. The whole process takes about 1-2 hours per restoration and our client leaves with their permanent restoration completely finished.
